New Bedford NAACP to celebrate 100th anniversary

NEW BEDFORD – Up and down the sidewalks they marched, one night in May of 1968. African-Americans and a handful of others walked peacefully through downtown New Bedford, past City Hall, holding signs: “RACISM MUST GO,” “BLACK PRIDE,” “The Truth Shall Make Us FREE,” “BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL.”Some crowded into the NAACP office for a meeting.
