Cornell William Brooks is not leaving the NAACP quietly. Brooks, 56, who serves as the NAACP’s President and CEO, was dismissed by the organization’s 64-member board last week and will move on from the nation’s oldest civil rights group when his contract expires June 30. He led the NAACP for just three years.

DALLAS – Teams from the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office and the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department are deep into the investigation of an officer involved shooting. Police say former Balch Springs officer Roy Oliver killed 15-year old Jordan Edwards when he fired his rifle into a car filled with unarmed African American teens.
