NAACP Florida Conference could address ‘racist’ national anthem
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) – The NAACP Florida Conference will have an opportunity soon to decide about pushing to get rid of the Star-Spangled Banner as America’s national anthem. The California NAACP chapter describes the song as “one of the most racist” and say its rarely heard third verse celebrates the deaths of slaves who joined British troops to gain their freedom, according to a WTOL story.
