Lawyers in the North Carolina attorney general’s office have met with a civil rights group calling for state investigations of wrongful convictions. A tribute to U.S. civil rights mogul Julian Bond will highlight the 44th Freedom Fund Life Membership Banquet of the Monterey County branch of the NAACP on Saturday. Bond, lawmaker and national leader, died in August at the age of 75.
