Black pastors to NAACP: Drop out of school choice suit

A hundred of the Florida’s leading African-American pastors are calling on the Florida NAACP to drop out of a lawsuit that threatens to remove 78,000 underprivileged schoolchildren from private schools that are helping them succeed. The African American Ministers Alliance for Parental Choice announced the petition at a May 10 press conference in Tallahassee.

Launch Code is offering a summer of free coding classes. The organization is partnering up with the NAACP to target young, African American men and close the unemployment gap.

Addressing School Violence

Local NAACP calls for stakeholder group to address school violence

WICOMICO CO., Md. – The local NAACP has called on Wicomico County Public Schools to open better dialogue on addressing violence and reported cases of sexual assault in schools. In early April, authorities say a Bennett High School student was charged with attempted rape of another student on school grounds which prompted Wicomico NAACP president Mary Ashanti to email superintendent Dr. John Fredericksen about possible solutions.
