The NAACP Rockford branch recognized community leaders for their hard work and dedication at its annual award ceremony at the Radisson Hotel. This year’s keynote speaker was Jacqui Patterson. She’s the Climate Justice Initiative Director for the NAACP.
The Santa Cruz Chapter of the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) has announced it will be holding a fundraiser for: “law enforcement agencies, and organizations committed to racial justice.” The fundraiser is being called a “NAACP Peace Party” and will be hosted at the end of August in Santa Cruz at Garfield Park Community Church.

CINCINNATI – Ohio Gov. John Kasich will take the stage shortly at the NAACP annual convention in Cincinnati. The governor’s remarks will come one day before presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, who is scheduled to address the group Monday morning. Presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump declined an invitation to speak at the event.

Leaders of the nation’s oldest civil rights organization on Saturday morning thanked the city of Cincinnati and the community for the warm welcome before a ribbon-cutting that officially opened the 107th NAACP convention.
Ohio Gov. John Kasich won’t speak at the Republican National Convention where Donald Trump is set to become his party’s presidential nominee, but he will speak to the NAACP national convention that Trump is bypassing. Emmalee Kalmbach, a Kasich spokeswoman, confirmed Friday to The Associated Press that Kasich will speak in Cincinnati on Sunday, the day before the RNC begins across the state in Cleveland.
